Milestones

They say, "big journeys begin with small steps". We share our interesting small steps below.

USA-CANADA BUSKING TRIP (2016)

One of the most noteworthy events for Stringanza is the great USA-CANADA busking trip. Evolved from the idea of travelling + playing live + for audience of a different culture. This is indeed a learning experience.  We compiled a 101 things to take note when you travel as a band.  Here are some tips if you ever want to try!

  1. Prepare CITES certificates in advance as we have python skins on our  instruments. (YES. python skin)
  2. Checking out the airlines which doesn't state the restriction of bringing a "small" instrument on board. (We shall never allow any airlines to check in our instruments).
  3. Preparing a poster for display, a donation box (or we used our instrument case), recording device.
  4. Looking into the places that allow busking (without fine/getting into trouble).
  5. Planning the exact time and date that you want to busk and getting yourself out of the house to do it.
  6. Do a touristy Music Video (see ours here: https://youtu.be/-Avw77g9zq8).
  7. Planning the set repertoire for the busk.
  8. ENJOY!

See the fruits of our labour in the gallery on the right.

fun music video creation (2016)

Our first try at creating a music video with close up features of each member. Took us an entire day of filming, and several days of editing the captured footage. See our DIY end product here: https://youtu.be/r9rkAPaZjLA

Soar by stringanza (2017)

Dreams don't work unless you do.

We would have never dreamt that there would be a ticketed Stringanza concert at the very prestigious Esplanade Recital Studio. It was amazing, and the hardest work ever to put a concert together from scratch.  We would have gotten crazy if not for all the help from our friends and family. It was indeed a good show, with great visuals and music.

A special recommendation from us is to watch our rendition of a Japanese anime, Laputa - Castle in the Sky. It was our first try playing music to a video. We screened a video of an artist sketching out pictures of the anime while we played music to accompany it. Watch the recorded version here.

Laputa Suite:

1.  The Girl who Fell from the Sky
2.  Pigeons and a Boy
3. The Chase
4. Laputa - Castle in the Sky

POKEMON GO GOES VIRAL

It's awesome how we are enjoying the game so much that we need to produce a cover after its theme song.

Thanks to the help of Facebook, we reached out to an amazing 400,000 people all around the world. Cheers to all Pokemon Go lovers!!

to our lovely community

We are very privileged to be able to learn and enjoy music. We enjoy going to the heartlands to share our music and let our fellow community get to know what the Erhu can do. We feel especially rewarded when audience tells us they never expected to hear such uplifting music from the Erhu

We hope our music made their day!  Go Go Fiddle!
